About 200 LIN supplier IDs assigned
LIN is standardized in the ISO 17987 standard series (Part 1 to Part 7). Part 8 specifies the LIN physical layer for DC powerline transmission. This part is currently in systematic review. The other parts have been revised already, except Part 5 (Applications programmers interface). They have passed the DIS (Draft International Standard) ballot. The submitted comments are observed currently.
The main improvement of the second edition is the integration of node position detection procedures and the related conformance testing. Of course, there are also editorial improvements. The terms master/slave have been substituted by commander/responder, for example.
The mandatory unique LIN supplier ID is assigned by CAN in Automation (CiA) on behalf of the ISO association. CiA has assigned about 200 identifiers. Recently, Anhui Welling Auto Parts (China), BOS (Germany), Matikon (Germany), Sciosense (Netherlands), Volvo Cars (Sweden), Zerro Power Systems (Singapore), and Zhejiang Sanhua Automotive Components (China) have got LIN supplier IDs.
